Dell SecureWorks Opens State-of-the-Art Edinburgh Facility with Scotland's Deputy First Minister John Swinney MSP Presiding

Edinburgh/London, UK, 9th July, 2015 -- Dell SecureWorks, a leading global information security services provider, has today announced the opening of its new facility in Edinburgh. The facility incorporates security research, engineering, marketing and security operations capabilities; the latter providing real-time network monitoring, incident support and response. It is a full-service Security Operations Centre (SOC) and is Dell SecureWorks' European hub.

Dell SecureWorks' links with Scotland began when it acquired dns Limited, a managed security services and consulting organisation (that originally secured seed funding from Scottish Enterprise) in 2009. This investment in the Edinburgh site is yet another example of Dell's long-term commitment to the region and its continued recognition of the extraordinary technology talent available in Scotland.

John Swinney MSP, Scotland's Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Economy officiated the opening ceremony with Michael Cote, Vice President and General Manager of Dell SecureWorks. The new facility demonstrates the company's growth in the UK and Europe, as well as its support of Scotland's digital economy. Scotland has a stated desire to be at the forefront of the digital revolution and is committed to cementing its place as a world-class digital nation by 2020.

Of the opening, Mr. Swinney stated, "I am delighted to be here today to see another significant company deciding to invest in Scotland. The launch of Dell SecureWorks' cutting-edge facility here in Edinburgh is a huge endorsement of all that Scotland has to offer in terms of talent, skills and infrastructure."

Mike Cote added, "The threat landscape is constantly changing and organisations are realizing that security is no longer an IT issue but a business issue. Having a weak corporate security posture is a complex business problem. For many of our clients, we act as an extension of their IT team to ensure they have the very best security protection, the latest intelligence to combat threats and access to the most experienced security talent in the industry. Here in Scotland, we already have a quality team in place and we are continuing to grow that team with some of the very best talent available."

Dell has fostered a significant presence in Scotland and has a vested interest in supporting sustainable economic growth and access to higher quality jobs across the nation. As a consequence of the company's ongoing business transformation to an end-to-end solutions provider, the employment offered by the company in Scotland is increasingly highly-skilled and more and more of our Scottish employees are taking on EMEA-wide and global roles.
